Challenges

1. 3D Printed Matrix for Pancreatic Islets Transplantation
Create a 3D model that could be printed out on a 3D printer and consequently used for purpose of transplantation of pancreatic islets (islets of Langerhans). The outcome should be a 3D printable model that will be used for animal testing of these islets to test the feasibility of the transplantation. You will have computed tomography screens as data for the 3D model.

2. Blood Sugar Level
Create an app that will be able to take a picture of a display of a glucose meter and translate the sugar levels and tendencies of the fluctuations from the meter into speech. The app will be used by blind patients. The app should be also able to record the values and keep a history of the usage.

3. Predict Patient Behaviour
Analyze anonymized data of patients in order to create a prediction of readmission and make suggestions on how to minimize it (you will have at your disposal patient history, risks of the procedures and more). The outcome should be an analysis that will predict patient actions and create a customized and guided plan of the care.

4. Treatment Guide
Treatment of some diseases can be very difficult, especially if you get self-administered drugs and a doctor or a nurse can’t be available 24/7. How about creating a treatment guide that guides you through the treatment and answers all questions – anytime?

5. No More Waiting!
Everybody hates waiting. Do you have an idea about how to avoid a long time sitting in waiting rooms?

6. Five-star hospital
Help us transforming hospitals into facilities where one feels like on holidays. Create an app for Android where patients can get informed about their stay in hospital (from medical and logistics perspective) and select from the range of services. Select and pay for your room prior to entering the hospital. Select the food in advance and book any additional services (ie. entertainment or additional treatments). The app should also educate the patient about their rights/responsibilities and allow the patient to give all necessary regulatory consents. The aim is to improve customer experience and lesser administrative burden in the hospital.

7. Alzheimer/Elderly Patient Family Management
Placing your family member into an Alzheimer/retirement home is a very emotional step. Especially in the first few months, families worry about the wellbeing of the patient which adds administrative burden to our staff and sometimes creates unnecessary friction between staff and family. Help us to develop a tool through which we could communicate with the patients’ families in a personalized way and thus assure them that their loved ones are being taken care of.

8. Diseases of Affluence Including Social Media Addiction
Cure Diabetes, Hypertension, Cancer & Addictions through data, software, and hardware.

9. Adherence and Compliance
How to make patients adhere to his or her medication plan regardless of digital literacy or physical location.

10. Quality Control for Automated Image Analysis
How to prevent AI from producing misleading artifacts? Train AI on a set of colored microscopic images to count isolated pancreatic islets and estimate their purity. Users must obtain for each image the automatic islet count and purity together with estimated reliability of the results (e.g.: 58 islets, 97% probability, or 71 islets, 12% probability). The reliability of the analysis will depend on the similarity of the user’s images to the images used for the training. A set of annotated microscopic images of pancreatic islets will be provided.

11. Ledger of Me
Patient consent to share their data is central to enabling research, collaboration, and analytics. However once access to data is granted, it’s almost impossible to revoke. Think of a system that enables better visibility and consent management
